The Norwich Dandies is a group of contemporary artists, poets and performers who first came together at St Margaret’s Church on St Benedict’s Street, Norwich, in May 2010 for two weeks. There was a Human Library, a Spoken Word event, OUT140, Face Painting with a twist, the election of Alternative Popes, Second Skins, drawing on a huge roll of paper, and Badger the dog.

Founder members of the Norwich Dandies are Vince Laws who takes poetry off the page into paintings, performance and installations; Norwegian painter Ole Skauge who creates dazzling geometrical illusions; homeboy Dugald Ferguson with his illuminated bunches of sportsmen-clad blossom; Christina Sabberton who creates exaggerated stereotypes inspired by what she observes in the world around her; Eloise O’Hare, painter, illustrator, puppeteer and more; Mark Scott Wood who creates installations in response to alien visitations; Grant Dejonge who paints bluebell woods and makes ceramic Nazi sexgods; and Badger the Dog, who, inspired by Tracey Emin, displayed his unmade bed.

The second Norwich Dandies exhibition, at the Studio Gallery, on Upper St Giles Street, featured Vince, Dugald, Chrissie, Eloise, Badger, and guest Dandy, Gena Ivanov.

The Norwich Dandies were invited to take part in the 5 Well Being festival outside The Forum in Norwich. We set up a gazebo studio and encouraged the public to dress up and lie on our chaise lounge…. While other members of the public tried their hand at portraiture.

The organizer, Oz Osborne, wrote: I'm also delighted we booked you as you were an absolute highlight at the event and I will recommend you to anyone I can in the future. You're all brilliant and I can't wait to work with you again!

The Norwich Dandies are currently discussing plans for events in 2011.
